I absolutely love covert. The police force is top notch and chief Jay works hard. Listen, unless you are speeding through a school zone (miss negative reviewer), you won't have a problem. Last I checked, there were multiple speed limit signs...I love my covert PD and FD....you guys ROCK
On Sunday, July 5, 2009 I was a passenger in the vehicle that my husband Roger was driving. Our two grandsons, ages 8 and 5 were also in the vehicle.

So to other travelers going thru Covert, our warning would be to watch for fast falling speed limits and Officer #072.
One of your officers (name unreadable on citation; Officer's ID NO 072 - possibility spelled T Rerftac) stopped our vehicle shortly after we entered the Covert from the south (M140) for speeding. He was parked on the east side of the road, by the school with the 35 mph speed sign directly by him. We have never gone thru Covert before; we had seen the sign that told of reduce speed ahead - saw the big sign stating 25mpr when flashing; but did not see the actual sign of 35mpr. We were on our way from Three Rivers to South Haven - just for a Sunday drive - something to do on our 17th wedding anniversary and for pleasure for our grandsons who we are raising 24/7. We had been traveling the 55mph; had dropped our speed to 43mph. My husband will not dispute the fact that he had not yet gotten down to 35mph.
My reason for writing this review is to express our disapproval of Officer #072. He approached the vehicle angry, demanded immediately to know where we were going in such a hurry - in fact, he repeated that question several times over in a very harassing tone of voice and body language. My husband respond each time with the fact we were NOT in a hurry - he had not seen the final speed sigh for 35mpr - and he had never driven thru Covert before - and he (Roger) was making an effort to slow down his speed. It would have seen more approximate to approached us with a Good Morning, Did you know how fast you were going? or some other gentle type of greeting. After the officer left our vehicle, we had to explain to our young grandsons that he was not a good example of what a police should be - Office #072 put fear into them - not a feeling of safety and helpfulness.
